Anniversary in Napa -- Day 3

As our anniversary treat, Ben and I decided to sleep in :) When we woke up, we had breakfast on the hotel terrace once again, enjoyed our coffee, read the paper, and headed over to Mumms for light and fun sparkling wine tasting. We got a table overlooking the vineyards, and enjoyed some fruit and nut pairings with our sparkling wine -- a nice way to start off the day.

We then went back to Mondavi to try some of their non-reserve Cab Sauvs and bought a bottle of their 2008 Carneros Cab Sauv and PNX Pinor Noir. Next stop was Mustard's Grill for lunch. We split the lamb burger for lunch, which we both enjoyed a lot. We then drove further North, stopping at Vie Sattui before exploring the town of St. Helena. Vie Sattui is owned by an Italian wine maker. The winery is beautiful (looks like a stone mansion) with gorgeous lawns with huge trees surrounding it. We did a tasting here, but it was very chaotic (being Saturday and a larger winery without an appointment). In St. Helena, we found a gelato/coffee shop where we relaxed and enjoyed some people watching. We then headed back to Napa along the Silverado Trail.

We had dinner reservation at Etoile -- a french restaurant within the Domain Chandon winery. When we got to the restaurant, they said it would be a few minutes until our table was ready. As we headed down to the table, there was a HUGE bouquet of beautiful roses on the table that Ben and arranged for me beforehand -- soooo sweet :) He then gave me the sweetest card ever that included two tickets (being our paper anniversary) to my favorite band --Death Cab for Cutie (yay!). We both chose the 4 course meal that consisted of tempura oysters, scallops in lobster sauce, prime rib with gnocchi, and dessert. All with the associated wine pairings. The food was very elevated, but still delicious.
What a great way to celebrate our first year of marrriage!

Happy 1 year Anniversary to my best friend! I love you so much, and I truly can't believe we have already been married for 1 year. It feels like just a week ago that we were saying "I do" on that magical day in the Cator Woolford gardens._________
